Medical Procedures Performed at Sparta Wellness Clinic
Patients across Caddo Mills, Greenville, Royse City, Rockwall, and surrounding communities come to Sparta because we can diagnose a problem and treat it in the same appointment. A suspicious mole gets biopsied the day you point it out. A laceration gets sutured while you’re here. A painful joint gets injected before you leave the building.
Our clinic is equipped for a full range of primary care and urgent care procedures, from skin surgery and orthopedic splinting to EKGs and rapid lab testing. Naomi Kramer’s background in cardiac care means cardiovascular and diagnostic concerns get the kind of informed attention you’d typically need a specialist to find.
The sections below cover everything we perform in our office.
Skin Procedures and Minor Dermatologic Surgery
Skin concerns are one of the most common reasons patients visit a primary care clinic, and one of the most common reasons they get referred somewhere else. At Sparta, we evaluate and treat skin conditions in-house on the same day you come in.
Our dermatologic procedures include:
- cryotherapy to freeze and remove warts, actinic keratoses, and other superficial skin growths
- skin biopsies (shave, punch, and elliptical) to evaluate moles, lesions, and abnormal tissue
- simple excision of benign skin lesions such as cysts and lipomas
- incision and drainage of simple abscesses
- skin tag removal
- nail avulsion (partial or complete) for ingrown toenails and damaged nails
If a biopsy result requires follow-up care, we coordinate next steps with you directly rather than sending you to a separate office.
Joint Injections, Splinting, and Orthopedic Care
Musculoskeletal pain is something our providers see every day, from chronic arthritis flare-ups to acute sports injuries. We handle evaluation, imaging interpretation, and treatment in the same visit so you leave with a plan and, in most cases, immediate relief.
Joint Injections for Knee, Shoulder, and Hip Pain
Corticosteroid and therapeutic joint injections reduce inflammation and relieve pain in patients dealing with arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, and other joint conditions. We inject the knee, shoulder, and trochanteric bursa (hip) in our office without a specialist referral. For patients interested in regenerative options, we also offer platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections as a separate service.
Our additional orthopedic procedures include:
- trigger point injections to release muscle knots causing pain in the neck, back, and shoulders
- trigger finger injection to reduce inflammation in a locked or catching finger
- simple cyst aspiration to drain fluid buildup from joints or soft tissue
- splinting and basic immobilization for fractures, sprains, and strains
- sling, boot, and brace application fitted in the office
- closed reduction of simple dislocations (select cases)
We also perform X-ray interpretation on-site to assess fractures and joint damage before deciding on a treatment approach.
Wound Care and Same-Day Laceration Repair
Cuts, abscesses, burns, and other wounds don’t wait for a scheduled appointment. Sparta Wellness Clinic treats walk-in wound care patients the same day they come in, with the equipment and experience to handle most cases without an emergency room visit.
Laceration Repair for Cuts and Deep Wounds
We perform both simple and intermediate laceration repair for cuts to the hands, arms, legs, face, and other areas. Our providers evaluate the depth and severity of the wound, clean and prepare the site, and close it with sutures or staples. If your laceration needs care beyond what a primary care office can manage, we’ll tell you and help you get to the right facility.
We also perform these wound and trauma procedures:
- incision and drainage of abscess with packing for deeper or more complex infections
- minor wound debridement to clean damaged or dead tissue from a wound bed
- nail trephination to relieve pressure from blood pooling under a fingernail or toenail
- suture and staple removal from previously closed wounds
- removal of superficial foreign bodies (splinters, glass, debris)
- management of minor burns including assessment, wound care, and dressing
Hemorrhoid treatment and excision is also available as an in-office procedure. If you’re experiencing hemorrhoid symptoms, call ahead or walk in and we’ll evaluate your options during the visit.
Women’s Health Procedures
Sparta Wellness Clinic provides gynecologic procedures as part of our primary care services. You don’t need a separate OB-GYN referral for the routine procedures listed here.
Our women’s health procedures include:
- Pap smear for cervical cancer screening
- IUD removal
- Nexplanon removal (subdermal contraceptive implant)
- Bartholin cyst incision and drainage
If your results or symptoms require additional follow-up, we’ll coordinate care with a specialist and stay involved in the process.
Ear, Nose, Throat, and Respiratory Care
ENT and respiratory problems are some of the most frequent reasons for urgent care visits. We handle these in-house so you can get treated the same day instead of scheduling a specialist appointment weeks out.
Our ENT and respiratory procedures include:
- cerumen removal by curette or irrigation (ear wax cleaning)
- epistaxis management for nosebleeds that won’t stop on their own
- nasal packing for more severe or recurrent nosebleeds
- removal of foreign bodies from the nose or ear canal
- nebulizer treatments for acute asthma, wheezing, and respiratory distress
- oxygen therapy for patients requiring supplemental oxygen during an urgent visit
- spirometry testing to measure lung function for conditions like asthma and COPD
Diagnostic Testing, Labs, and Vaccinations
Quick, accurate test results help us make treatment decisions during your visit rather than days later. Sparta Wellness Clinic keeps rapid testing and diagnostic equipment in-house for this reason.
Our diagnostic and testing services include:
- EKG testing and interpretation to evaluate heart rhythm and detect early signs of cardiovascular conditions
- rapid strep, flu, and COVID testing with same-visit results
- rapid lab panels including urinalysis, pregnancy testing, A1C, glucose, and mono screening
- hearing and vision screening for adults and children
- vaccinations for adults and pediatric patients, including routine immunizations and school-required shots
For more comprehensive lab work, we partner with an outside lab that returns results in days rather than weeks. Naomi reviews every result and follows up with you directly.
IV Fluids and Medication Administration
Patients who come in severely dehydrated, unable to keep fluids down, or in need of urgent medication can receive IV fluids and IV or intramuscular medication administration during their visit. This is especially relevant for urgent care patients dealing with vomiting, heat-related illness, or conditions that require fast-acting medication delivery.
